
John Rynn

John Rynn brings decades of operational experience across U.S. Army Special Forces, the United States Marine Corps, and municipal law enforcement, with extensive combat, training, and advisory leadership in complex threat environments worldwide.
As a member of U.S. Army Special Forces, John served as a junior and senior engineer/demolitions specialist, Assistant Operations and Intelligence Sergeant, and later as an Operational Detachment–Alpha (ODA) Team Sergeant. In 2006, he assumed Team Sergeant responsibilities for a Special Forces dive team before attending the Special Forces Warrant Officer Course.
He graduated in 2008 from the Special Forces Warrant Officer Technical and Tactical Certification Course and subsequently deployed as a Warrant Officer and detachment commander with multiple ODAs throughout Central and South America. In these roles, he planned and executed counter–narco-terrorism training and operations, working closely with host-nation military and police forces, the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, and Special Investigation Units (SIU).
Earlier in his career, John served with the United States Marine Corps’ 2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, deploying to Iraq, Israel, the Mediterranean, North Africa, and the U.S. Southwest Border (JTF-6). During these assignments, he conducted reconnaissance, security, combat operations, and partnered training with allied forces. Across multiple combat tours to Afghanistan, Iraq, and other global regions, he trained, advised, and assisted foreign military personnel in support of U.S. and allied objectives.
Complementing his military service, John completed over twenty-eight years as a sworn police officer and police sergeant with the Baltimore City Police Department. He served more than sixteen years on the full-time SWAT team as an operator, firearms instructor, counter-sniper, explosive breacher, SWAT school instructor, and Police Academy Mobile Training Team instructor.
John is a graduate of the Maryland State Police Counter Sniper School, Maryland Police Training Commission Firearms Instructor School, and the FBI Firearms Instructor School. He is a certified Maryland Police Training Commission instructor in Basic and Advanced Police Tactics, SWAT, and Firearms.
